Welcome to the Dragon's Mist
We use an external dice roller here that can be monitored by all using it. You will need to go to White Wolf's website at this location and register for a free account. Its very easy, and trouble free. Once you have your account registered, log in and go to the die roller and its very simple to use. Thank you for your cooperation in this.
The sky seems to
stretch on forever overhead, and the sounds of forest creatures and other birds
can be heard. The city of Silverwynne is situated in the Lightbourne Forest, and the elven city stretches on for a large part of the forest.
The fresh air, laden with the flavor and smell of the forest, fills your lungs as you walk through the crowded streets and treelanes of
Silverwynne, passing shops, smithys, and other such establishments.
A high elven lady greets you with a smile and a nod, and the stocky dwarven
gentleman with the huge battleaxe grumbles that gawkers should look
where they're going. A couple of halflings ahead enjoy a game of
chance in the mouth of an alley formed from massive tree roots. The elves, which are the predominant race of the city of Silverwynne, seem friendly enough, even the wild and wood elves. The other visitors, such as the dwarf, are even social. The atmosphere of the elven kingdom is one of freedom and cooperation.
The smell of food
finally attracts your attention and you wander over to an inn/tavern, which is also situated within the massive roots of an ancient oak tree, and you enter
the place, the Shiny Scale, and are greeted promptly by a cheerful half
high elf/half human lady, all the while music is being played and sung
to by a strikingly beautiful female human bard. Near your table are
three gnomes, discussing the purity of emeralds and sapphires this close
to the mountains that overlook the inlet. A gray elf wizard is gesturing and speaking to his
three friends, while the two barbarians in the corner are noticeably antsy
about whether or not he's trying to cast a spell, muttering vehemently
about hating magic and wizards.
Soon, your food and
drink arrives, and the ambient atmosphere of the inn closes in around you,
and all seems right with the world. Right, that is, until the raiding
band of gnolls storm the areas on the outskirts of the city, with thier orc allies, and the call is sounded for all able bodied
fighters to come to the defense of the city. Swift, silent footsteps
of running guards, lightly armored, armed to the teeth with elaborate longbows and elegant swords, can be heard as they take up positions, attacking
the nasty bipedal hyenas, with your help, eventually driving them out of
the city.
Looking up, you're
by the main avenue through the city, the road that leads back to the center of the elven tree city, where the palace is situated in an incredibly ancient tree, home of the rulers of the elven kingdom, Thanos
Galanodel, the high elf king and his sister, the surreally beautiful
Lariena, the high elf queen of Silverwynne. Though the city
is mostly elven, you've seen a fair number of other races in the city,
mostly visitors, and the captain of the guards leads you up the main avenue and across the
intervening ravine, passing a large boulder that the queen is said to sit
upon and sing, calling to the souls of elves and rallying them in time of need. The castle is generous
and luxurious, but not overly so. It is, after all, an elven tree dwelling. You're led into the main hall,
where a nice crowd of elves, with a small scattering of other races, mostly humans of all
colors and creeds, are gathered. The
king, his golden blonde hair and bright eyes standing out, is hard to miss in the room, and sits at his throne.
His girl, his loyal and loving servant, with her resplendant blonde hair and fair porcelain skin, sits
at his side, the very picture of happiness. In the other throne, the king's sister, the queen, sits. Her hair is a mass of golden locks and her skin shines like the purest ivory. These three you could not miss.
The discussion that is taking place is animated. A visitor, a human, speaks of the evils in the land of Lochdell, which is across the mountains and the inlet. The human kingdom there is growing increasingly bolder and more brash. They've recently allied themselves with other evil cultures in their area, among them the dreaded drow of the city of Neraozaberenith, which you recognize from tales told the continent over of being the largest and most powerful drow city on the continent. The king and queen's faces go grim. In addition to the normal evils they must endure from the nearby orcs, ogres, gnolls and other foul creatures, now they must contend with the Lochdellians and their allies. The local clerics all agree that a dark cloud is approaching the peaceful kingdom of Silverwynne, after millennia of virtual peace. This is a threat that cannot be ignored. Which side will you find yourself on, when the time comes? Will you help the elves of Silverwynne and their allies of the other countries quell the rising conquerors in Lochdell? Or will you side with the Lochdellians and their foul allies, and attempt to take over the continent, subjugating all the other kingdoms and countries under your allies' iron fists? Only you can know the answer. As you descend further into the Dragon's Mist, be prepared to make your choices. In either event, life should be exciting.
Welcome to Dragon's
Mist. This is a roleplaying room based and built on the Dungeons
& Dragons version 3.5 rules. This
is not free form, nor is it RoleMaster, Rifts, or even AD&D
2nd edition. Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 only.
Dragon's Mist is the name of the campaign setting that centers on an imaginary continent named Eldarin on an imaginary
world called Coresh. The world is a larger campaign setting, but you have no need
for it here. The setting has been genericized for simplicity of play.
We do use dice here, yes, but only in the most needed circumstances.
Other than that, roleplay rules the day, and your sheet is your guide to
the abilities and capabilities of your character, NOT the character him
or herself.
The site, which is
still under construction, will have all the details you need to play comfortably
here, detailing some of its history, the ongoing story, etc. The
sources which are used and allowed here are also detailed on the site,
as well as character creation details and tools, and other resources for
those that don't have the books handy. The Wizards of the Coast website,
linked below in the copyright information, is an invaluable resource for
the player as well. To play here, you must submit a character sheet
to the board and have it approved by the Council and DMs.
RULES
Please Read CAREFULLY
Before Entering - Ignorance Of The Rules Is NOT An Excuse
NOTE - You MUST
Be 18 Years Or Older To Enter Dragon's Mist
1.) All site rules for Roleplay Oasis are in effect and if you don't recall what they are, GO LOOK AT THEM!! Breaking them will not be tolerated here. To begin with, USE A NAME!!! "Anonymous," "Curious," "Peeking," and so on are not names. They're adjectives and adverbs, at best. You may observe, of course, if you wish, wearing the ~O~ observer's tag, but use a name with it. It doesn't matter if its Tom, Dick, Lucy or Blinky, just use a name. Common sense, and the ability to reason and read will tell you to use a name of some kind.
2.) This room is built on and uses Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 rules, published by Wizards of the Coast. There is a list of accepted sources for roleplaying in the room on the site, which include the Core D&D rulebooks and the Forgotten Realms material. Just because something says d20 on it, or whatever, doesn't mean its accepted here. Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Sword & Sorcery, Mongoose Publishing, etc are not allowed here. A character sheet must be completed and submitted to the board, linked above, before play can begin here as a member. You can play as a guest, as long as you adhere to the rules. If you're not familiar with the game, or the setting style, ask, and we'll be glad to help you. Its not that hard. What this means essentially is that you can't bring a White Wolf World of Darkness Vampire or Werewolf or something to play here, or a White Wolf Exalted, Lunar, Solar, etc, or a Rifts character or whatever. Its for D&D and that's what we play here. And PLEASE do not bring a Gorean character in here. It has no place here, either.
You can submit a character of between 6th to 10th level, starting out. This is determined by rolling 1d10 (1-2 = 6th level, 3-4 = 7th level, 5-6 = 8th level, 7-8 = 9th level, and 9-10 = 10th level). This must be done in the presence of a DM. Your level includes any level adjustment for races (for example, a drow has an ECL of +2). There are tools, like character generators and such on the site, as well as detailed instructions on character creation, etc. The board also has a questions and answers help section, and we will help as much as possible. You can play virutally anything, within reason. For any race that has an ECL above +3, you need to talk to the room owners/DM and get approval to play it. You will be gaining experience points and advancing, so never fear about being too low a level or anything. If all you're wanting to do is play a combat monster, you can do that elsewhere. We don't like or allow god moders here, and if you have to question it, you're guilty of it.
This is a limited kill room. That means that you can't come in, especially if you're a guest, and start trashing the city or killing player characters just because it suits you. We all, you and us, work very hard on our characters and don't like when someone goes to messing with them like that. If the death is agreed to by all parties involved, and the DM knows about it and has no objections, then that's okay.
3.) No canon, iconical characters from any of the established settings can, or are to be played here. This means you can't play Drizzt Do'Urden, Alustriel, Elminster, Tasslehoff, an Athasian dragon king, or anything like that. You should create an original character and have fun with it.
4.) There will be NO OOC bitching, arguing, fussing, fighting, debating, etc here. We're here to relax, roleplay and have fun and you should be, too. This is an adult chat site, an adult chat roleplaying room and everyone here SHOULD be adults. So, with this in mind, let's BE adults, and not get carried away with OOC concerns, with IC events and so forth. If you're jealous, angry, etc, either get a grip, or go somewhere and cool off and then talk to the person later. DON'T start a bunch of shit here. You can come back once you're calm. Privacy is privacy and we don't want to be witness to anyone losing their minds and so forth, and airing out their business to the room and God above.
5.) There is to be no sharing of RT information in this room, unless its consensual between yourself and the other person. ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and any other messenger service of any kind is not related to this room, nor is the information that is shared there allowed to interfere here, REGARDLESS of what the other party tells you. Messengers should be used for excessive OOC conversations whenever possible, and for any arguments, etc you may have. We don't care for the drama and bullshit here so leave it outside if you're going to roleplay here.
6.) There is no limit to the characters you can play here, but don't bite off more than you can chew. All characters must be approved, no matter who's playing them, and any character not active for two months will be considered to have left, be severely injured, or dead. We love creativity and energy and diversity, but if you're not planning on playing a character long term, don't make them as detailed as a player character. Make it more like a well developed NPC.
7.) Slaves and submissives - Slavery isn't an everyday thing here like it is in some places, like Gor, for example. Certain races will often take slaves (usually the evil people), but they are rarely used for and treated like slaves online are accustomed to. Some good races will have servants that are either hired, or that they've taken in. It all depends on the race that takes them and how they go about it. As a rule, slaves as slaves and submissives are accustomed to are more like real world servants and slaves here. But, if someone should take a slave for some reason, make sure you take care of him or her and maintain him or her. Its not someone else's responsibility, especially not someone of a diametrically opposed race to your own, to care for your slave.
8.) Combat, magic, skill checks, etc, when they need to be made will be done according to Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 rules. A link to the SRD (System Resource Document, basically a pared down and generic version of the D&D rules, in RTF format) will be provided if you don't have the books, as well as file sharing programs will be advised to download PDFs of them. The DM should be present anytime any major fight or battle is conducted, but use the rules, fairness, and common sense if they are not present.
Travel must be posted. Unless you have a teleportation spell of some sort (and NO, not everybody has magic spells out the ass just waiting to be cast, thank you very much, as magic, arcane or divine, is UNCOMMON in this world), you have to travel. Gee, imagine that. At least two posts traveling from place to place. In certain circumstances, fast forwarding through the travel is acceptable, if you mention that you are doing so. However, let's keep it realistic, okay?
9.) Any that break the rules that are listed or disrupt the roleplay of the people that live here will be given three chances and then booted. This room is for fun not for aggravation and those that reside here have worked too hard to have their fun tampered with. That alone will be taken as a sign that you wish your ass booted to the next roleplay life. You don't like a bunch of crap, we don't like a bunch of crap, so don't bring or give us a bunch of crap and everything will be just groovy.
10.) Most importantly...HAVE
FUN, hell, its what we are all here for
