Welcome to Scarlet Nightfall

We're pleased that you've come to taste the hospitality of our fair city

Scarlet Nightfall is a roleplay room set in the city of Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas. Our roleplay is based on the world created in the Anita Blake novels written by Laurell K. Hamilton. This world is much like ours, only with the added adventure and thrills brought along with the preternatural creatures that also inhabit it. It isn't required that you have read the books in order to play in this room, but it is, of course, helpful. If you haven't read the books, please be honest with the room leaders so that we can help you when it gets confusing.

Room Rules:

This room is based on the Anita Blake world of LKH. If you prefer to roleplay WW, nWoD, Ricean, Gor or any other form of roleplay, this isn't the place for it. Your character may live whatever lifestyle you choose, but the roleplay of the room is about LKH. If your roleplay focus is elsewhere, there are multitudes of other rooms that would suit your needs better and we hope that you will enjoy them.

While our roleplay is set in the Anita Blake world, the reason that we are all here is to roleplay. Every character in the room has the opportunity to contribute to that goal. That is the focus of Scarlet Nightfall: Pittsburgh... storyline and roleplay. The reality of the fact is that Laurell K. Hamilton has written Anita Blake novels, not an Anita Blake roleplaying system. The best that we can hope for is to adapt our roleplay world based on our interpretation of those novels. Adding to the complication is that the books themselves don't provide a fully consistent depiction of some of the character types and character growths. There are times when it is difficult to walk the fine edge between what the books may say and what is best for the roleplay of the room. Our philosophy is to remember that roleplay is the reason that we here. If we are going to stray from that fine edge, we want to stray in the direction of storylines and roleplay that are better for the room. All decisions are based on that philosophy. If that is not your opinion or your philosophy, we respect that and encourage you to find a roleplay environment that suits you better.

All characters must have an approved character sheet to play here. Once your character sheet is submitted, we will get to it as quickly as possible. So that you can get started without delay, you may play as soon as your sheet is posted, but you may not use your powers or cause any major impact to other characters or storylines in progress until your sheet is approved.

As part of the roleplay philosophy of this room, we believe that character development is a critical part of strengthening the roleplay storyline and of the room itself. There is a system of experience points to be awarded for roleplay that furthers character development and storylines, both personal and room-wide. There will also be a strict limit of very powerful characters. Character caps of upper level characters will be used to help maintain this philosophy as well. This is also to allow room for lesser level characters to grow, hopefully without creating imbalances. Any player, however, will always have the option to make a character. With the exception of trying to maintain the proportion of one type of vampire bloodline to another (and types of human gifted characters for the same reason), weak and moderate level characters will never be capped.

This is an ADULT roleplay room. All players in the room MUST be 18 years of age or older. There will be adult themed roleplay and may be sexual content. If you are under the age of 18 and enter this room, you endanger all of the roleplayers in it. If we find out, you will be removed from the room and reported to the site. Please don't put us in that position. No underage characters will be permitted as player characters or NPCs. Storylines including pregnancies or the birth of children will not be recognized. All preternatural characters must have been at least 18 years old when turned or infected.

All site rules apply. They can be found HERE

Visitors and observers are welcome. However, no anonymous names or forms of them will be accepted. You'll be asked twice to change your name and then you will be booted. If you are here to visit or observe, please use a true name with and –o- after it. Please feel free to ask any questions to room members. Please ask in PM if asked to do so.

Please keep OOC chatter to a minimum in the room if there is roleplay going on. It's okay to greet people or post OOC here or there, but if it needs to be a conversation and there is roleplay in progress, please take it to PM or IM.

There will be NO public posting of private information such as typist's real names, locations, phone numbers or IP's. Anyone who posts such information will be removed from the room immediately and banned.

Roleplay based on r/t or OOC will not be recognized. If you have issues OOC, please deal with them OOC and without bringing it into our roleplay world.

All decisions made by the Administrator are final. When a decision is needed, all angles will be considered as fairly as possible. Please accept these decisions gracefully.

The final and most important rule of all... have fun!! That's what we're here to do.

Player Guidelines:

We're all here to have fun. That is the number one and most important thing to remember. Roleplay is meant to be fun... a game... a way to escape the everyday boring bits of life. Please just remember that we all want to have fun. That means you, me and every other player in the room. For this to occur, we need to respect each other and keep it fun for everyone. Please refrain from posting rude or inconsiderate posts, or posts putting down other people's roleplay. If you have a problem with anyone, please try to handle it in private like mature adults. If you can't, speak to one of the leaders and get some help. At any rate, if we offer each other respect, things shouldn't get out of hand.

Please keep up to date on the message boards and regularly read all the important threads. There may be items that affect your roleplay posted either in announcements, as a newspaper article or by other means on the board.

With the nature of the writings of Laurell K. Hamilton and the world in which our roleplay is set, it's reasonable to assume that there will be sexual relations amongst some of the characters. This is a roleplay room, not a CYBER SEX room. If that's what you're looking for, you'll be happier looking elsewhere. Sexual scenes may occur openly in the room. If you feel uncomfortable with that, you can either ignore the posts or put those players on ignore.

Regardless of how you guide your character romantically, in certain circumstances sexual situations are inevitable. Let's face it, some vampires can do things like roll minds and weak lycans have to be trained to handle sexual situations safely. It's part of the storyline. However, no typist will be forced to roleplay out a situation that he or she feels uncomfortable with. Period. If the typists are okay with it and want to roleplay it out… have fun! If not… in this room, "curtain scenes" are perfectly acceptable. That means the actions can progress up to whatever point the typists are comfortable and then there is a "fast forward" to getting dressed or whatever is appropriate afterwards. In other words, "it" can happen to the character but it doesn't have to be played out. As a side note, characters who might take advantage of other characters sexually... there can (and almost certainly will) be in character consequences.

Keep OOC knowledge separate from "in character" knowledge. If you know something as a typist, it doesn't necessarily mean that your character knows it... nor should their actions be based on it.
