Of course, the movies and books are the best places to find information. They are amazingly well written, and the characters are the type that you just fall in love with. Those characters are the sole property of their creator, and we here in this room get no profit from the RP based on that universe with loosely based rules from the Star Wars RPG. It is not actually required for you to have watched the movie or read the books to enjoy this theme in all its glory. It is a unique theme, and a unique universe which might be intimidating to those new to it. Please, don't let that keep you back.
Setting:
The events depicted in Star Wars media take place in a fictional galaxy. Many species of alien creatures (often humanoid) are depicted. Robotic droids are also commonplace and are generally built to serve their owners. Space travel is common, and many planets in the galaxy are members of a Galactic Republic.*

When people think of the sci-fi genre, Star Wars is one of the first things they think of. Star Wars encompasses its own universe with its own planets, cultures, and beliefs. This is a land where the mystic Force meets the power of technology, and often they conflict.
The Galactic Federation of Free Alliances: Forged in the fires of the Yuuzhan Vong War, The Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, also known as the Galactic Federal Republic, but most commonly the Galactic Alliance replaced the New Republic as the democratic power in the galaxy. The new government devoted itself to rebuilding and repairing the galaxy, left in disorder following the war. By 30 ABY, the Galactic Alliance had officially taken authority of the galaxy.
The Coalition of Imperial Worlds , better known as the Galactic Imperium to reflect the partial recovery of the Galactic Empire's former power and prestige formed after the Yuuzhan Vong War out of the remains of the Imperial Remnant. Under their new Supreme Commander, the Imperium started the Victory Without War program. At most, several Moffs held a distaste for the Galactic Alliance, leading to a cold war-esque hatred.
The New Jedi Order is the restored and reformed orginization of Jedi, begun by Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The Order slowly grew in numbers and stature, becoming a core part of the New Republic that sponsored it. This involvement culminated in the Jedi involvement in the Yuuzhan Vong War. Their involvement in the war cost nearly half the Order's Knights. Following the war, the Jedi academy was moved to Ossus, while the High Council relocated to a newly-constructed Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
